Nizāmābād is a city in the Nizamabad district of the Indian state of Telangana. Nizamabad is one of the major urban centres and the third most populous and third largest city in the state, next to Hyderabad and Warangal. Census of India, the provisional population was 310,467. It was only during 1876 Nizamabad became a separate district when the districts in Hyderabad State were reorganized by Salar Jung-I, the then prime minister.
